LATEST NEWS ON NEXT OS MICROSOFT WINDOWS 7 .... WHAT IS COMING IN NEXT OS WINDOWS 7 IS A WOW ... LOOK AT THE VIDEO ... Touch is a compelling input

"The one that's perhaps not as fully appreciated as some of the others: natural user interface," Gates stated. "This is the idea that just typing and using the mouse is only one of the ways that we'll interact with these machines. The arrival of cheap cameras with great software, the ability with the pen to write on a surface, have that be recognized; the ability to recognize speech—those are going to come into the experience, and those are central to allowing computing to be pervasive. (...) Natural user interface—you're actually seeing a bit of this in Microsoft products and other products," Gates added referring to Microsoft Surface, but also to the iPhone from Apple and the Nintendo Wii. LOOK AT THE VIDEO I HAVE ON THIS ...  THE INFO THIS IS IT ... Windows Aero Is Old News – Introducing LucidTouch User Interface .. If you think that Microsoft's journey into the development of natural user interfaces has stopped with the availability of Surface, then think again. The Redmond company is hard at work in a collaboration with Mitsubishi Research to produce LucidTouch. Chairman Bill Gates, underscored the fact the upcoming 10 years in computing evolution will be focused – among other things – on developing natural user interfaces. A natural UI is of course designed to scrape the products that have become traditionally associated with the interaction model between humans and computers such as the keyboard or the mouse. The upcoming steps in computing technology will bring a range of innovations.
But in addition to Surface, Microsoft is working on other projects designed to deliver natural interfaces in the hands of the users. Just take a look at the video embedded at the bottom in order to make an idea of what LucidTouch is all about. Of course, currently, LucidTouch is nothing more than a prototype, and it is still a long way away from being integrated into a marketable and commercial product. Essentially, LucidTouch is a natural user interface meant for transparent mobile devices allowing the users to use multiple points of contact in order to interact with the product. Because of the pseudo-transparency mechanisms, users are able to use all 10 fingers simultaneously, as the back touch pad comes with multi-touch input capabilities. Touch is a compelling input modality for interactive devices; however, touch input on the small screen of a mobile device is problematic because a user’s fingers occlude the graphical elements he wishes to work with. LucidTouch is a mobile device that addresses this limitation by allowing the user to control the application by touching the back of the device. The key to making this usable is what we call pseudo-transparency: by overlaying an image of the user’s hands onto the screen, we create the illusion of the mobile device itself being semitransparent," revealed Microsoft researcher Patrick Baudisch.

Windows 7 - Next Generation of Windows Microsoft

Windows 7 - Next Generation of Windows Microsoft will be release their new Windows in late 2009 called “Windows Seven”. According to Wikipedia, Windows 7 with codename Blackcomb and then Vienna confirmed by Microsoft is the internal name for the next version of the Windows Client OS. From first release of Windows Vista on January 2007, Windows 7 will be release on 32 bit and 64 bit version. Although the official said Windows 7 will be 64 bit, maybe we remember when Windows XP released, Windows Longhorn planned to be 64 bit version only. And now most of the PC still use 32 bit version, and I though Windows 7 will be release in 32 bit version. In some forum there are many opinion why the next generation of Windows call Seven. Here are the opinions why called Windows 7:
    1. It’s going to take seven years to finish
    2. It will be the 7th version of windows (Vista is no.6)
    3. 7 as a
lucky number and big release (I though 13 is a lucky number too)
    4. Some one also said like this Windows Se7en.. it’s so funny!Maybe we just wait and see when Microsoft launch their future and next generation of Windows. And Is Windows Vista going to be the fastest-moving operating system ever WHAT DO YOU SAY

Microsoft code name of the day: Fiji

Best guess on what it is: Fiji is "the next version of Windows" following Windows Vista and preceeding Windows "Vienna" (the version of Windows formerly code-named "Blackcomb"). Some people say Fiji will take the form of Windows Vista Service Pack (SP) 1. Others believe it will be a full-fledged, but relatively minor, Windows release — more of a Vista R2. Microsoft won't comment publicly on the code name at all.
Meaning/context of the code name: Fiji, like a number of the code names I'm planning to feature this week, is part of Microsoft's vista (with a lower-case V) series. When Microsoft officials acknowledged the decision to change the Windows Blackcomb name to Windows Vienna, they said to expect other products to be part of the "beautiful vistas" line. Some of the "vistas" are cities; others seem to be countries.
Back story: For the past few years, Microsoft's plan of record has been to release a new version of Windows client and a new version of Windows Server every two years. The thinking in Redmond: Stagger releases of more minor, interim (R2-style) updates with major, full-fledged ones. If the new Windows development organization under Steven Sinofsky sticks with this plan, Fiji should be out around 2008. If Fiji is simply the code name for Windows Vista SP1, it should be out by the end of 2007, right around the same time as Longhorn Server.
Additional info: Fiji raises an interesting question: What counts as an operating system? Going forward, will service packs/roll-ups count, in Microsoft's, partners' and customers' eyes, as new versions of products? (That's what Windows XP Service Pack 2 was, after all.) Or will Microsoft try to get company watchers to consider SPs the equivalent of new Os releases, in order to appear to be more agile in its development? Stay tuned.
Anyone have any other details on Fiji to share? Or have another Microsoft code name you’ve been wondering about? Send it my way and I’ll do my best to track down some leads on what it might be.

Windows Fiji is the life after Windows Vista

It is official; Microsoft's next version of Windows is Windows Fiji (codename). At the present moment, details regarding Windows Fiji are scarce
to say the least. In fact, nothing has leaked from Microsoft other than the Windows Fiji codename.
One of the first to confirm the Windows Fiji codename was Charlie Owen over at the Windows Media Center development team. At just one week after Windows Vista was released to manufacturing, Owen revealed that the Windows Media Center team had debuted their first milestone for the upcoming version of the operating system.
"One of the guiding principles we will use to determine features for vNext is identifying and removing roadblocks which keep people from using Windows Media Center. One example of this is the new Express Setup you find in 'Diamond'. 'Emerald' and previous versions (version history and codenames) forced the user into a rather lengthy first run setup wizard about 10-14 pages at minimum for most users. By contrast, the new Express Setup in 'Diamond' requires but a single action the first time you launch Windows Media Center before you are instantly able to start using the features," stated Owen.
Diamond and Emerald are Microsoft codenames for Windows Media Center in Windows Vista and Windows XP Media Center Edition Update Rollup 2. In this context, the codename for Windows Media center in Windows Fiji will be vNext.
Charlie Owen's message about Windows Media Center vNext is tagged under "Fiji | Windows Media Center."
Windows Fiji is the next version of the Microsoft operating system that will follow Windows Vista on the roar to Windows Vienna (Blackcomb). At this juncture it is not uncertain if Windows Fiji is a codename for windows Vista Service Pack 1 due by the end of 2007 or if it is Windows Vista R2.

Is Windows Vista going to be the fastest-moving operating system ever?

Is Windows Vista going to be the fastest-moving operating system ever? Well, not much stands in its way. Let's in fact be fare about this. Only Windows XP stands in its way. In this context, the adoption
rate of Windows Vista has to be larger than that of Windows XP, and the latest operating system from Microsoft will prove to be a success. The Redmond Company is planning a Vista 20% adoption rate in just the first year. This is twice as much as XP. In fact, Microsoft wants not only to outperform XP with Vista, it wants to crush XP.
Only time will tell if Vista will succeed to outpace XP. But there are more and more supporters of Vista's forthcoming popularity. David Mitchell, the software practice leader at Ovum has forecasted that Windows Vista will find its way onto 15% of desktops in the first year. XP only managed a 12 to 14% adoption in its debut year. "That would make it the fastest-moving operating system ever," said Mitchell. On the consumer side, there has been a bit of pent-up demand. Just look at the beta adoption in the consumer space - it's very high." He added that the 2007 Office System will have a less fortunate adoption rate.
The perspective is understandable as Windows XP is the only operating system rivaling Windows Vista. Microsoft will undoubtedly kill XP in order to breathe life into Vista and it will do so by educating the consumer mentality. Vista will be marketed as the only comprehensive upgrade alternative for an operating system. XP will be pushed to the back, and - in time - it will turn obsolete and expire.

Windows 7 has no Graphical Interface, this is yet to be seen. Currently, its a 40MB OS, (which is just the kernel), with
    Command Line Interface.

windows 7, so far it doesnt even have a graphical user interface. theyre redesigning it from the ground up. granted theyre
using the same NT kernel, but other than that, theyre making almost everything else optional so your pc wont be needlessly
bloated (like vista) and instead, will only have what you need/want.

Shake off your prejudices and concentrate on what is real and beneficial to the entire world. Microsoft took a good lesson
from Vista and does not intend to make the same mistake again. This time, They will blow us away! See Longhorn in 2003, it
was like 20 years ahead of Mac and note that XP has managed to beat everything.
